Following a breakthrough summer in 2014, which saw the band play
main stages at major festivals including Boomtown Fair and
Grillstock, The Montgomerys’ debut album was recorded at Alma Vale
Studios in Bristol by Luke Cawthra who captured the band’s
high-energy sound by recording the ten tracks live. Mixed using
vintage analogue equipment at the Dog House Music Studio, the band’s
frontman Sam Whitlock said the band was very happy with the
authentic sound of the record, which has their trademark three-part
harmonies at the fore.

Scott, bass player and founder member of The Rocker Covers, has left the band to concentrate on making original music.
Scott will continue to play in 60s Hammond groove combo Big Boss Man and the legendary psychobilly band the Coffin Nails, and is putting together a new rhythm'n'blues / northern soul / country / rockin' band together called "The Hawkmen". If you like the sound of that, and want to hear some Hawkmen tunes coming soon, please like, follow and bookmark the following links: The Hawkmen on Facebook The Hawkmen on Twitter The Hawkmen Website
Here is the statement from Scott:
"With regret, I just want to let everyone know that I have left The
Rocker Covers as of today. There are a few small differences within the band
(which I would never air over Facebook), but I have decided that I no longer
want to play in a covers band.
I have been playing in bands for 27 years, I joined the Coffin Nails when I was 17 and Big Boss Man has been going for 14 years. I never once thought I would start/join a covers band in that time, but a few years ago it seemed like a fun thing to do, and it has had a great reaction (as many covers bands get, playing songs everyone knows). I believe a band can become successful without taking itself seriously, which MANY groups have proved, but at the end of the day, The Rocker Covers are playing other peoples songs, and it’s now time for me to move on, and concentrate on original material again.
Being busy with The Rocker Covers has given me hardly any time to write and record songs (which is what I love doing), I’ve only released a couple of my northern soul style tunes since The Rocker Covers began, nothing for the Coffin Nails, and I’ve only had a minimum input into Big Boss Man. I am also really excited about a new project (working title The Hawkmen), which together with some really cool guys, are getting some great sounding rhythm’n’blues/soul/country/rockin’ tunes together!
I have had some great times with The Rocker Covers over the last few years, met some amazing people along the way, and enjoyed recording the songs in my studio, all of which I will miss of course.
The Rocker Covers releases will continue to be available on my Greystone Records label, on CD and via download. But whether or not the band will continue to play live, is still to be decided. I wish Kris and Bob all the best for the future. Thanks for everyone’s support!"
