their 8-track ramshackle studio and mixed by Nick Terry (Klaxons, SMD)
at Studio 2 at The Premises, Hackney, London.
As usual the band have made good use of their extensive collection of
vintage (and temperamental) gear for Full English. Head honcho Nasser (a.k.a
the Bongolian) plays mini-VIP, Farfisa and Hammond organs, Wurlitzer
piano, Moog synths and drums and percussion. Driving fuzz guitar and
bass beat is provided by bassman Scott Milsom "the Hawk" and guitarist
Trev Harding. The band have once again created a superb spaced-out
selection of prime 60’s inspired dance floor tracks: Northern Soul vibes
with ‘Black Eye’, garage sounds with
‘The Bloater’, Boogaloo with ‘Pies
and Pastiche’ and even samba with ‘Full
Brazilian’.

(former player/vocalist with The Heavy) for this new project
reminiscent of the classic sounds of northern soul, motown and rare
grooves, yet with a modern twist. “Don’t Judge a Book By Its Cover”
is the first single produced by this new outfit and has already gained
the support of Craig Charles (BBC 6), Henry Storch
(Unique), Francesco Adinolfi (Rai 2) Rob Da Bank (BBC 1)
and Steve Lamacq (BBC 1). On the flip side, Italian hammond
maestros THE LINK QUARTET recruit the sultry vocals of new it
girl of funk Gizelle Smith for a beat-driven, hammond-laden

feet to this album. Very danceable soulful funkiness. I suppose a bit
